Question 1

What else is a 1979 Datsun 280ZX sold as?

Accepted Answer

A 1979 Datsun 280ZX is also sold as the Nissan Fairlady Z in Japan. The Nissan Fairlady Z is the same car under a different badge, so parts generally interchange.

Question 2

Do Nissan Fairlady Z parts fit a Datsun 280ZX?

Accepted Answer

For a market twin like the Nissan Fairlady Z, parts interchange in most cases because it is the same vehicle with different badging. Mechanical and service parts are the safest; lighting, bumpers and trim can differ between markets, and right-hand-drive versus left-hand-drive affects steering, mirrors and dashboards. Always check the part number against your own car before buying.

Question 3

What does S130 mean on a Datsun 280ZX?

Accepted Answer

S130 is the chassis or generation code for the 1979 Datsun 280ZX. Parts catalogues for older and imported cars are usually organised by chassis code rather than by model year, so it is the most reliable thing to search on.
