Question 1

What else is a 1973 Nissan Violet sold as?

Accepted Answer

A 1973 Nissan Violet is also sold as the Datsun 160J in the UK, the Datsun 140J in the UK, the Datsun 710 in the USA. The Datsun 160J is the same car under a different badge, so parts generally interchange.

Question 2

Do Datsun 160J parts fit a Nissan Violet?

Accepted Answer

For a market twin like the Datsun 160J, parts interchange in most cases because it is the same vehicle with different badging. Mechanical and service parts are the safest; lighting, bumpers and trim can differ between markets, and right-hand-drive versus left-hand-drive affects steering, mirrors and dashboards. Always check the part number against your own car before buying.

Question 3

What does 710 mean on a Nissan Violet?

Accepted Answer

710 is the chassis or generation code for the 1973 Nissan Violet. Parts catalogues for older and imported cars are usually organised by chassis code rather than by model year, so it is the most reliable thing to search on.
